Exporting Vocabulary Files from Chat Editor to the TouchChat Device using iShare

Transferring files between the Touchchat device and the Chat Editor using iShare requires an internet connection and an iShare subscription.

• open the Chat Editor program on your computer
• choose a TouchChat configuration
• choose Library
• choose Transfer -> Vocab to file
• The transfer box will appear, highlight the file you wish to export, then click Transfer from the top left hand side
• a Windows Save As dialog box will appear
• save your vocab file to your computer (remember where you save it to), make sure that the .ce remains at the end of the file name
• after the file has been saved, open up your browser (Internet Explorer) on the computer and go to www.ishareservices.com
• log into your ishare account. If you do not have an account, go ahead and register for one.
• from the ishare account screen, click on Add File at the left of the screen
• on the Add File screen, you need to enter in the information that is needed, i.e. name, revision, description, keywords.
• select which category you wish for your vocab file to be associated with
• select which type of file your vocab will be. This will make your file private, public or a group file.
• click on the Browse button, find the vocab file you exported from the TouchChat Windows Editor program, click on the file and then click on Open.
• then click on Submit, just below the file area
• this will bring you back to the browse file area, in which you should see your file listed
• on your device, click on vocab
• then click on Choose New Vocab
• click on the Menu button in the right hand corner
• choose the iShare Service button
• log in using the ishare account you set up earlier
• choose the My Files folder
• find the vocab file in the category where you placed it
• after choosing the file, in the file details screen, click on the download button on the bottom left
• the “Download complete OK” screen should appear
• click on the arrow on the top left of the screen until you see a Done square and click it
• you should be back at the Vocab File screen, where your vocab file is listed.
• choose your vocab file
