Hurray- it’s finally here! Many of you have been asking for it and Apple® has listened. With the release of iOs 6 today, you now have the ability to “lock” users into TouchChat, preventing them from exiting the app and getting off task. **Please note that if you update your iOs software to iOs 6, you will need to update your TouchChat software with the new version 1.2.4, available in iTunes®.
This new feature from Apple® is called Guided Access®. To get there, choose Settings>General>Accessibility>Guided Access. Guided Access® keeps the iPad® in a single app, and allows you to control which features are available. Turn it On and set a password. Most people will also benefit by turning on “Enable Screen Sleep”. To start Guided Access®, triple-click the Home button in the app you want to use. Now you are given the option to disable certain functions, i.e. you might want to turn off the “Motion” option if your client prefers to keep the screen in the same orientation. Choose Start when all settings are set.
To get back to iOS options, triple click the home button and enter your password.
NOTE: We suggest always “closing” (not minimizing) all other apps prior to locking someone’s system in TouchChat. To close apps, double tap the Home button, and push and hold one of the apps listed in the line at the bottom of the screen. Choose the – button for each app, but TouchChat. Then, tap the Home button. Open TouchChat and triple click the Home button to start Guided Access®.
