TouchChat fits into the category of assistive technology known as Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and includes features that were previously only available on dedicated speech-generating devices.
Words, phrases, and messages are spoken with a built-in voice synthesizer or by playing recorded message. Individuals navigate through page sets that are linked together; each one divided into a number of buttons. Buttons are programmed to have specific actions, such as speaking a message, navigating to a different page, changing the volume, or clearing the display.

Button activation timing can also be adjusted to meet an individual’s needs and capabilities. Adjustments include button dwell time and button release time. Buttons can also be configured to activate on release. Additionally, gestures can be used to navigate to new pages, speak messages, etc.

Once programming is complete, protect your custom files. Vocabulary files can be imported and exported to a computer through iTunes® file sharing, DropBox™ or Google Drive™. Set up an automatic backup for your vocabulary files to either iCloud®, Google Drive, or Dropbox. With this feature, your files back up automatically soon after you edit a file. Plus, the latest three versions of your vocabulary are stored.
